In this meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei cited active and strong presence of Iranian women in research arenas, particularly Quranic research, as one of the great achievements of the Islamic Republic and a source of pride for the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that the western view of women is wrong and humiliating and adding Islam respects women, and it has provided the ground for them to use their talents in family environments, in society, and on international fronts."

Pointing to the fact that the large number of female Quran researchers in Iran is hardly found in the Muslim world the Leader said the ground shoul be paved for practicing the Quran in society.

His Eminence said that the most essential condition for imbuing a society with Quranic features is to establish a government on the basis of Quranic and Islamic teachings. "The establishment of the Islamic Republic in Iran was one of the most important instances of practicing Quranic teachings, but this obvious reality is often ignored."

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the establishment of the Islamic Republic has best prepared the ground for Quranic development.

His Eminence reiterated that all Quranic activities in the country should be directed towards practicing the teachings of the Holy Quran in society as well as in individual and social behavior of the people. He added that the people should be familiarized with the teachings and principles of the Holy Quran and that Quranic research should be directed towards achieving this goal.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that public familiarity with Quranic concepts is the prerequisite for reaching this goal. "Quranic research must be directed towards realizing Quranic teachings in society and the people's lives," he noted.

Elsewhere in his speech, Leader of the Islamic Revolution touched on the prerequisites for Quranic research, adding: "Quranic researchers must be spiritually prepared to accept the pure realities in the Quran, otherwise Quranic research may be used against the Quran."

Ayatollah Khamenei further explained that in the absence of spiritual purification, the Quran will be used to fight Islam, the Islamic Republic, and the virtues promoted by the Islamic establishment.

His Eminence referred to close familiarity with the Quran, the Arabic language, and the principles of fiqh as other prerequisites for Quranic research. He reiterated: "The scholarly method of using the Quran in Quranic research is of paramount importance. In this regard, the method used by Islamic ulama is tried and true and scientifically valid."

Ayatollah Khamenei touched on the issue of human sciences in Iranian universities and expressed his complaints in this regard. He said: "Western human sciences translated and taught in our universities are based on a materialistic worldview, which is inconsistent with Quranic and religious principles. The principles of human sciences have to be sought in the Quran."

Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that extracting the principles of human sciences is one the most important issues that has to be addressed in Quranic research. "If this goal is accomplished, researchers can build strong and impressive foundations for human sciences using Quranic principles and some breakthroughs already made in human sciences."
